Historical monuments and buildings

– The Castle – built in Gothic style in times of Kazimierz the Great, on the site of a former Ruthenian stronghold, transformed in 1523-48 into Renaissance style. Side wings were destroyed in the 19th century.


 

– The building of so called „Inn” built in 1775-99 – presently the head office of the Historical Museum.


 

– Orthodox Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity from 1784, built in Neoclassical style. A complete 19th century iconostasis inside, as well as Baroque side altars from the first half of the 18th century and the 17th century icon representing the Blessed Virgin Mother with Child.


 

– The Franciscan monastery and church from 1632-40, originally in Baroque style, rebuilt in later times. Late Baroque altars and the painting of the Blessed Virgin Mother of the Sanok Land inside.


 

– Town hall from the 18th century, rebuilt in later times. The front wall with the clock, the town emblem and the National Emblem.


 

– District office building from years 1875-80, presently the town hall. The Sanok Area’s emblem on the façade.


 

– Parish church of Christ’s Transfiguration from 1874-87, built after the fire which consumed the previous parish church. In the right aisle a Renaissance gravestone of Sebastian Lubomirski, transferred from the previous church.


 

– The House of Prelatic Chapter members from the 17th century, built near the site of a former parish church of Saint Archangel Michael.


 

– Old town middle-class buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries


 

– 19th century house of the Zaleski family, in art nouveau style.


 

– Wooden Greek Catholic church (presently RC church) from 1844 in Olchowce quarter. Presently used by Roman Catholic worshippers, it still preserves some elements of Greek Catholic décor inside.
